I was curious, my husband was diagnosed in 1994 and died from complications in 2003. My son was tested at that time,in 1994, he was 16 and his test came back negative. We really questioned that because he has so many of the symptoms, but the DR. said no. Two years ago my daughter developed cataracts and now other symptoms and she is being tested. We know that she has MD. Could the test run on my son 15 years ago have been faulty or could he just have a disease that mimics symptoms? They DRs [many of them] have never come up with a diagnosis.

What kind of test did your son have? A DNA test;  Muscle biopsy? If the symptoms are close to DM and you feel he may have it you may want to consider retesting. The tests are never 100% accurate so I would discuss with your doctor a retest.
